You saw the promotion for days, and you still didn’t watch it. It’s okay, we have you covered. Nappy Nappa put on for the District of Columbia in a recent visit to Atlanta, Ga. where he appeared on Adult Swim’s Blood Feast Livestream.  Think Glenn O’brien’s TV Party, or our very own Art House Live but with the financial backing of Cartoon Network.  It was raucous of a set.  He and the Lads including Sir E.U, Marty Heem Cherry, and Auto repped the city through and through, making sure to shout out damn near every artist within District lines. Listen to St. Clair Castro’s Sonic Trip

St. Clair Castro was talking about how he didn’t like Chance the Rapper’s 2013 project, Acid Rap.  Having to bring him back to his opinion, the CMPVTR CLVB member explained that the cocoa butter kisses-juke jam didn’t represent the true euphoria of a LSD trip.  Chance was selling a false reality. When Saint trips, he visits different worlds that he’s not sure he’s come back from entirely.  His sounds veer that way, too, during his live sets.  The DJ/producer/graphic designer put it more plainly as we talked at MxD House’s event Halloween weekend.  “I’m not human,” he said. This is Saint’s 111th interpretation of an LSD …

“Matte Yellow Jeep”- Nate G

“Matte Yellow Jeep” is a slow banger of a track off of Nate Gski’s April album Uptown Story.  Sparse drum hits and a repetitive melody produced by Vaughn El frame the conscious rapper’s compact bars. “Yell ‘Uptown’ in the Coliseum/ Spray tag names in the Newseum,” raps Gski in a canary yellow trench coat.  The visuals are directed by VacantImagination.  The song’s lyrics allude to a history of D.C. that is proud and esoteric.  “This is an Uptown Story,” being sure to distinguish himself from other cats “over the water” in Southeast or elsewhere in the DMV honing their musical …
